1XV

The 1XV play in the BUCS Top 6 League which began in 2019/20, and the BUCS Championship Cup. This season 24/25 EULRFC kicked off with the first Women’s BUCS Super Rugby match at Hive Stadium

Play. Train. Perform.

As well as training 3 times a week, the team is part of a training and performance programme, with strength and fitness sessions three times a week.  

2019-2020 SEASON

Last season the 1XV team placed first in the BUCS national league, with a record of  8-2. They made it to the BUCS championship finals, which was cancelled unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the success of their season, the club was awarded the Presidents' trophy from the University for their contribution to sport.

Beyond Edinburgh

Within the 1XV squad there are players that represent Scotland 1XV, Scotland U20s and Scotland Touch as well as a number of players competing in The Celtic Challenge representing Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby.

Performance

The 1XV is part of a Team  performance training program as part of the university

Pathway

The University's performance program offers access to the Scotland rugby pathway. This season, 15 players took part in the Celtic Challenge, and 4 were chosen for the wider training squad for the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup.

PlayerData

The 1xv received a grant to purchase GPS vests to track their progress. These are used to monitor performance in games and durng training.
