7 Hours, 90 Points and 22 Scrunchies - EULRFC Are Out Of The Blocks In BUCS

Time for the BUCS Premier North League to begin! First up, Edinburgh against Loughborough.

In a thrilling first half, EULRFC kicked off their BUCS season with sixty six unanswered points. Hard running and bodies on the line from the forwards allowed the backs to open up and play an exciting brand of joué rugby.

Three tries in the first ten minutes from returning captain Rhona "takes the scenic route" Lloyd and newly capped Elizabeth "wheels" Musgrove, set the tone for an exciting, expansive game. A frustrated Loughborough lost their scrum half to the sin bin after a number of penalties at the breakdown. Nata"liability" guy quickly returned the favour with a stint in the bin of her own, after yet another crunching tackle- from around two meters offside.

The remainder of the half was filled with meat pies, turnover scrums and spectacular offloads. Yas uni. A raft of half time (and just after) substitutions brought Helena "Roberta" Scullion, CP "propstar" S, Ali "I eat my fingers when I mistake them for chips" G, Rachael "Harvard" Harkavy, Charlotte "macron" Hope and Hannah "smashing" Gaddie onto the field.

The second half was rather loose but did feature some memorable moments:

- Liusaidh "predator" McMaster presenting the ball with her legs crossed sitting down

- Sally "#backingblue" Stott telling the team to keep it clean and immediately getting a yellow

- Doug "Dougs" Dougan trying to take a cone on for Lufbra's try

- Natalie "jailbait" Guy returning to the pitch for a brief stint before she was quickly ushered off as she flirted with a second yellow card.

Closing thoughts - "Top start, champagne rugby, muchos joué" (Haggis, 2017)

Full time score 90-5.
